Risus was asleep on a booth table, twitching and muttering to himself. His blue notebook was open to the page he was writing on:

What is it like to be in complete and utter stasis?

Pulse barely pounding, consciousness hanging by a thread. Muscles barely responding. Feeling like your body is no longer in your control.

Alternately, what does it feel like to be in exhilaration mode?

Heart pounding, blood and adrenaline mixed and flowing, rushing, the feeling that you are invincible.

Every touch, every sound, ever scent lasting forever, but passing by in an instant.

Moving in every direction, running in full throttle, the whole WORLD belongs to you, and you're just ready to reach out and take it because you know you can. Unstoppable, invincible, overheated, exhilarated, as high as you can get. One more step to total and blissful oblivion, and suddenly, you just stop.

Aveira walked up behind him and touched the open notebook. The words flowed into her mind and she smiled. Beside the first part, words began to appear in her jagged handwriting:

It's terrible. So easy to slip away, to give up. Knowing that your body belongs to someone else, that voice telling you to just sleep...it's not terrifying at all and that makes it all the worse.

Next to the second part, the words said:

The feeling is indescribable. It feels so good, up until you fall. And then you fall farther than when you started.

When she was finished she walked over to another table and sat down, idly playing with a strawberry muffin.

Risus twitched. "Groan..." he muttered. Yeah, he was still asleep.

Aveira was bored. She started tossing pieces of her muffin at his head.

He twitched again. "Stupid archer..." he mumbled pretty loudly. He switched his body weight from one side to the other.

Aveira snickered. "Dreaming about me?" she teased. "it normally takes a few more visits than that."

Risus laughed quietly. "Keep throwing your muffin. I want to eat the next bit of it that hits me."

Aveira grinned and tossed the entire muffin. "Eat that!"

Risus caught it by his free hand, his eyes still closed, head still down. "And you just happen to be here?" He asked as he raised his head and took a bite, opening his eyes.

"I come here a lot, actually," she said. "I despise coffee, but they have the most amazing strawberry muffins. I love strawberry muffins."

Risus raised his eyebrows and took a huge bite. "Well, it's mine now. Oh, and don't forget, you owe me a small, black notebook. I demand it!" he cried. "It was custom made."

Aveira threw a notebook at him next. It was small and pink. "I think this suits you better."

He threw it back. "I already have one," he stated, pulling HIS pink one out of his bookbag that he always carried.

Aveira, sensing the color, laughed out loud. "How manly of you."
