It's like this when you see him. Picture yourself in the dark alleyways taking a shortcut from home when you realize you're not alone. At first you think a friend has come out to scare you but then you notice that the presence is unfamiliar. Your mind starts to picture a horror movie setting, where the young victim is killed by the stalking murderer...But now you suddenly lose the presence you felt earlier. This really scares you, and you begin walking faster, a look of horror on your face. Then you see a person walking towards you. His stride is smooth and confident, and moonlight hits his face. That is when you see the eyes and you scream, as they are the pure definition of feral. A hand, no more like a claw, touches your trembling lips to hush you up. Without a word to say you only tremble as the boy reaches out to take your hand and then says with a grin. ''Hello..''

Alright, now that you've got that idea across your head let's move on to the actual description. Kaito is a skinny person with not much of a weight. Like a lot of regular teenagers his height is shorter and built laid-back. A common sight and not too intimidating at first. Kaito looks lean like he should be running or swimming and not lying on the alley floors all day. Since he isn't exactly the richest person in the world he looks like skin and bones, his ribcage showing a lot. One thing to note is that his arms and legs are long for his body, making his posture much more slumped than most teenagers. Even when he tries to straighten up his one shoulder lowers a bit and he ends up a little off-balanced. His arms seem weak but are actually athletic from fights. His legs are the same, but the reason is from running a lot after those fights. Lack of sunlight usually pales a person, and that effects Kaito. From living without much sunlight, Kaito's developed a pale skin that may effect him for life. It seems almost gray-white in the dark, and in certain lighting conditions blue-green. In reality it's a very light shade of skin color, with a blue-ish tinge directly from his father's influence on him. The skin is a characteristic that does help when it comes to blending in with something, but stands out in a crowd of normal people. If he noticed it, chances are he didn't care for it. >< Kai somewhere in his life sharpened his nails to the point of them being more like claws. They haven't recovered and haven't gone back to normal since, and may stay like claws for a long time, which seems to be a relief to Kaito since he says ''now I ain't so defenseless'' to anyone who asks. It's true, as the sharpened nails have saved him in the past. Kai has been known to cause wounds real quickly to enemies with a slash, which doesn't help his feral status. Most of the time when he's not laying around or getting in trouble he's sharpening his nails to even more deadly heights. ^^

Facial features are different then most...Kai has a cunning, fox-face which means when he grins he can look menacing and calculating. A grin usually appears when there is something daredevil about to happen, or when he has a plan his enemies don't know about. A grin looks more menacing on him mostly because of his teeth being more fang like. Maybe to go along with the nails, his teeth are also pointed. But it wasn't by his hand. But whichever reason, he has fangs. The longest of the fangs are his canines, which poke out of his mouth and give him another demonic look. Kai has blond hair that is almost medium. His hair covers his ears and a lot of the time his eyes. We could call this a way of hiding one's looks? Kaito's most characteristic feature though are his feral eyes. They are truly wild when one looks at them. The pupil is more slit like and small enough to make a cat's eye, but also with the bravery and sorrow of a lone wolf. His eyes are the only way you can see what he's really feeling. When he's neutral, the eyes are a blue-gray, with flecks of light silver and sea green. Not as feral as when he's angered. When angered, his eye color is amber, with sparks of red and is truly feral. More red in his eyes indicate how much he is about to lose it. When his eyes are totally red he has lost himself and has gone insane, wanting to attack everything. When sad, the eyes are almost black.. The chemicals in his eyes react to his emotions and change the color and the vision he sees in. While neutral gives him a regular field of vision, anger doubles it and sadness triples it so that in his sad state he is at his finest defense. Kaito doesn't rely on his vision ever, only when in sadness he relies on it completely.

In general, he is definitely one to stand out among a crowd.

Due to even more chemical reactions from his second trip to the torture world, his bangs have grown more and he looks even more feral than before...His clothes has also changed to a more punk style.

Background:
. His birth was the death of his mother, of whom supposedly had a disease that only showed at pregnancy. Her death caused Kaito's father, a miserable drunk, a mental problem and he blamed the death on Kaito. The mentality of his son being the death reason leaded to trying to ''dispose'' of Kaito. He tried to kill the baby twice. He tried throwing the boy out the window, but the baby's cloth caught on a branch of a tree and thus did not fall. He tried to drown the child by throwing the boy into a pool, but the baby instead floated after 1 second underwater. The father grew tired of trying to kill the child, believing that it was the spirit of his wife protecting the ''demon seed''. So instead he decided to just make life miserable for Kaito. And thus the beatings began.

Kai grew up being beat up by his drunk father. He had to take food into his room early in the day so he'd have something to eat later, when his father was done beating him. Kaito looked a little normal. Never having a haircut his bangs hid his eyes. He had to wear girl's clothes every day and the only time he had boy's clothes was when his dad found rotten hand me downs in the junkyard. It was embarassing for the boy to go outside in a dress, but his father would grab him by the arm and lead him down to the market like some sort of dog. Kaito's arms and legs were covered in the bruises and scratches that he got from being abused. To cover them up his dad gave him hand me down arm warmers and leg warmers. And his father never punched the boy in the face, since then people would suspect the abuse from the boys head wounds. Whenever Kaito had enough and did something rebellous, he'd be beaten, then tarred and feathered. Then he'd be told to march down the street alone. But his father would catch him if he tried to run away after.
There was another problem that caused total trauma for Kaito. He could see shinigamis. They'd appear to give him company, sometimes feeling sorry for him. But sometimes it only made things worse. His dad would barge in while he talked to one and would not hesitate to beat him for talking to 'imaginary friends'. After this Kaito was a little sore around the shinigamis....One of them gave him a random notebook, which they said to write his father's name in it. Kaito wrote it down and a shinigami smirked as they flew away, promising freedom to Kaito. This was confusing.....

Would it ever end? Yes it would, for one day something happened. Kaito was caught stealing a chocolate bar from the counter, since he'd never had one before. He was four, and was very curious. His father was in a drunken rage and did not hesitate to slash Kaito's hands with a knife. Kaito was then thrown at the counter, where a bottle of liquor stood. The bottle fell and broke, spilling the alchohol on the ground. Furious, the father ran after Kaito, only to slip on the liquor, and crack his skull on the hard wood floor. Kaito was then an orphan from that point on. And the notebook was the cause of it.

Kaito was about to leave but halted, knowing he was smarter than this. He grabbed some food from the cabinets, then grabbed his dad's hoodie. He also grabbed the hand me downs mentioned earlier, and raced out the door. Kaito became homeless, living on the streets. He ran out of food and was forced to steal food and clothing. He was forced to beg and plead for food and offer jobs to people. Nobody gave him a thing, and the boy was left for dead basically. But not giving up, he pressed on and learned moves that only a street dweller could learn.
Eventually, he met a boy named Masato. Masato was 12, while Kai was 7 and a half. Masato knew how Kaito felt about being abused and living on the streets. In turn, Kaito saw Masato as a mentor. Masato was in a gang of bandits of which were more older kids, including an old man who'd been in the gang for 50 years. Kaito joined, seeing he was getting nowhere on his own. He'd have to go through a test though. He had to prove his theivery skills by stealing a scroll from an elite group of detectives studying something called a death note. It took a week, but Kaito came back, bloodied but holding the very scroll in his hand. He also held the death note for extra credit. Masato declared him one of the group and declared him the most determined newbie he'd ever seen. Kaito smiled back before fainting.

Even though he was the youngest of the gang, he proved to be strong. Kaito was the one usually sent out on scouting or spying missions. When faced in a bad position, he had some good fighting moves to keep other gangs away. The rival gang of his gang never knew what'd hit them. He continued to steal with his friends and thought life was getting better. It was on one day that he found the saying that would keep him determined for life. What we think we become. He never forgot it, and used it to motivate hiself when he was down. He'd even earned a nickname. Squid. No idea how it related to him though. Everything was going fine until one day, when the rival gang declared a brawl. Stormy weather was ahead and rain lashed out as the boys headed to an abandoned junkyard, the same one where his father found his hand me downs, to fight. It began as violently as possible. Boys pummeled each other, found glass shards, found broken bottles. Kai or Squid could taste blood from his and the rival gang's. His eyes wildly looked around when he heard a scream. It was from Masato, who was being stabbed in the stomach with knives the rival gang's leader had hidden in his sleeves. Kaito ran to help his friend, but it was too late, and Masato was killed in front of Kai. He saw more members dying from the hidden weapons and about 8 of them were left when the police came and arrested the living.

Before they could take Kaito away he grabbed a glass shard and cut the name Masato into his palm, which would become a scar later on....Kaito was placed in juvenile detention for two more years before being adopted into a foster family. They claimed to be relatives but of course Kaito didn't trust them. All he did was write in a journal his memories of watching his gang dying in front of him. The small boy was having nightmares of the deaths, and he more than once had a vision of his father saying ''I told you I would get back my revenge....'' It was two more years (9 and a half) when he ran away.
He was captured then, by another juvenile police. But instead he was thrown into a torture chamber, where he proceeded to become his feral self. There were many chemicals in the cell, which affected his skin and his eyes. After staying there for a few more years (14) he was finally released with a warning. Nobody knows what kind of torture had been put in there, but Kaito has become a product of it, and with such a difficult past, who knows what is wrong with him.

Another trip to the torture cell has made him change again. He now carries a darker aura than before. Be careful!!!!

Powers:
The shinigami sense: Kaito is able to see and hear shinigamis without any trouble, making him able to tell if anybody holds a death note. Sometimes he can tell the name of the person by the shinigami saying it while he's listening in. Another plus to it is that nobody can see his name with their shinigami eyes since the sense allows him that priviledge.

Rage: When Kaito loses hiself he becomes a feral creature, and he has heightened senses, strength, speed and ect.

Capoeira

Relation to Death Note: Kaito has the ability to see shinigamis, which gave him the chance to use the death note to destroy his abusive and insane father. Although his gang was killed by shinigamis without him knowing, he still trusts them a little. The other relation is the direct seeing of the death note. ^^

Kaito has been sent to torture again, but instead of shaking it off like last time, he's been altered in both appearance and personality....Look to my bio and appearance again to see what has changed. ^_^

Kaito's current state
