Hitomi was here because she knew two things: one, that she was being hunted; and two, that only those who deserved to find her could get to her here.

She made one simple call to a man whose number had lain in wait for just such a time for an age almost. For a moment she wondered if Lucien had forgotten her; well, if he had, it was time to remember.

Lucien answered his phone, voice cold.

"Hello Hitomi. I wondered when you would use that card; obviously my being discreet in giving you this number has paid off. What do you want?"

"I want to show you something," she said quietly, "it's going to be a bit of a trick to find me, though. I'm being followed."

"You want to show me something", Lucien repeated it, a tone of... boredom? lacing his voice. "And you expect me to heel? I'm not a pet, Hitomi. Still... I suppose I did offer you something when I gave you this number. And finding people is a game I enjoy. Have any details?"

"This is an important something," she said simply, "I'm in the Old Town. In one of the alleys. Want anything more precise or do you think that's enough?"

The line went dead.

"More than enough, Hitomi." Lucien stepped into the alleyway, a half grimace on his face.

"Perhaps even too much."

She looked at him and raised an eyebrow.

"Not bad," she said, "not bad at all."

She walked up to him and held out a piece of paper, with words in Elvish on it.

"Just touch the paper; it doesn't matter if you can read the words or not."

Lucien did so, and took a step back, drawing a gun as he did so. Staying perfectly still, controlling the human fear that was a natural reaction for self-preservation, he said "You thought I wouldn't track the call, Hitomi? If I'm coming, I'm coming prepared."

Pulling a second pistol, he added "For anything."

"And you really think a human gun can hurt me?" she asked quietly, "and even if it could, the demon you now see would not abide by harm being done to me."

"You underestimate me, mindreader. These are not equipped to kill humans. That aside, I didn't come to kill you- drawing a weapon is a habit. Even if I can't kill this demon, it never hurts to try, so one is able to assess one's options. But, if we're being civil..."

Lucien stood straighter and lowered his guns, formal and cold.

"A demon already dead is a hard thing to kill," she said simply, "but now you know the tool which Kira uses to kill. It is a simple black notebook."

"Difficult, but not impossible. As it stands, this information is extremely useful to me. What do you hope to gain, by showing me this?"

She shrugged.

"Find the others," she said simply, "and if you stand with Kira, make it known that there is another demon, one to rival those who stand over our shoulders, that chases us. If you stand against us-kill them."

She turned away, and then looked back for a moment.

"As for me, I won't be Kira much longer. Good luck on finding my successor."

"What exactly" he said, smirking "Makes you think I'll do either? Or even find them, for that matter."

Finally holstering his guns, he sighed. "Not that it matters; nothing holds my attention for long. It's been a pleasure, Hitomi."

With that, he walked away.
