"Groan...moving is SUCH a pain..." Risus sighed and tossed his hair back. It was a great day, shining sun, slight breeze, warm but not hot, and plenty of interesting people. He pulled out his small, black-bound notebook and began to write, pausing occasionally to take in the scene, or sigh, close his eyes, and let the sun glance off his face.

Aveira was sitting in a tree, a silver-colored bow in her hands. She was aiming arrows at different targets at random distances, hitting most of them. It was much harder now that she was blind.

Risus felt something breeze through his hair. He shrugged, figuring it was just the wind.

Aveira heard the ruffle of his clothing and focused her mind on him. He was holding something...a book? She aimed her arrow at the book and released, sending a silver fletched arrow straight through it.

Risus yelped. "Hey! What the F$%k?" Risus looked around, but not up the tree. "Stupid over-zealous archers..." grumbling, he bent down, plucked the arrow out of his book (and a good 4 inches of earth), wrote that he needed a new notebook, and put both items in a bookbag.

Aveira giggled happily. She grabbed another arrow and aimed it for so that it would just brush his hair. She was careful not to hit him. She was trying to cut back on her murders.

"Gwh- What the!?!" Risus jumped three feet in the air. "My hair!" he cried out in mock horror. "Another fricken' arrow. Sweet. I'll just add it to my collection." He tried to pull it out of the ground. It was stuck. "Oh, hah hah. Very, very funny."

Aveira laughed louder, not bothering to conceal her presence, but not coming out of the tree. She shot another series of arrows into the ground around him. She was having fun.

Risus shot a quick, inquiring glance at his assailant. He shrugged, and made a big deal about shooting arrows close to his shoelaces. "I spent weeks writing a book to pay for these! Look what you've done! My entire life in respect to my feet is ruined!"

Aveira pulled her blindfold off and laughed again. Her eyes had gone back to their original dark purple, the blindness gone for the moment. She jumped out of her tree to collect her arrows, ripping them easily out of the ground. "Hello."

"Hi. Why are you trying to turn me into a pincushion?"

"If I were trying to do that, I'd have hit you," she said cheerfully.

He shuddered. "I believe that," he grumbled, and stuck his hand out. "Risus. Nice to meet you."

"Aveira," she said and shook his hand. "Your name means laughter. It's very appropriate for you. Thank you for relieving my eyes," she said with a smile.

Risus tilted his head to one side. "I don't understand, but I have a feeling it would be a great story."
