Useless information and new people

Michael walked down the isles.

It must look bad pacing like this... People must think I'm a lunatic. He'd been through walking around for close to an hour and hadn't even looked on the shelves. He couldn't think of what he wanted. I wish I had a list of recommended books right now...

Normally he wouldn't have been here... but with nothing to do and this nagging feeling he needed to go, today was the day.

Kana was sitting on top of a bookshelf. A librarian was trying in vain to get her down. "I LIKE being up here!!" she was arguing.

Michael heard an aggravated young woman's voice. It didn't really intrigue him much. He went on walking, trying to figure out his business.

Kana calmly took out a knife and stabbed the librarian. "Bitch!"

Michael walked out of the isles just in time to see the stabbing. He wasn't truly surprised or shocked. Just slightly jolted.

He looked around. All he wanted to do at this point was leave.

Shit... He realized the door was past the woman with the knife. Instead he continued on his business, hoping she wouldn't bother him.

Kana had seen him looking. She jumped in front of him and smiled. "Hi! Don't tell anyone about that, pretty please?"

She looked at him closely before shaking her head. "No. Not yet, anyway. You aren't on my list." She shuffled her feet in embarrassment. "Though...Neither was that lady..." She gestured to the dead woman on the floor.

"Well... it's certainly nice to know I'm not completely safe..." Michael laughed nervously. "Um.... make a deal? I say nothing, you don't stab me? Something like that?"

She nodded. "Sure thing. Unless you find your way onto my list, of course. I have to make a living somehow, right?"

"Ok... I'm gonna ask... what list? Are you some sort of assassin?" Michael was good at putting the obvious together... and that's what it came out to be.

Kana nodded. "Yep! Here's my card." She handed him a card that said "Kana Katana" in large letters. Underneath that it had a phone number. There was no other information.

"Right..." Michael sighed. "Since so few people hate me, unless you do, I ought to be safe." He smiled. "Nice to meet you, Kana." He extended his arm. "The name's Michael."
