Megami had been watching from a dark corner. She remembered his name and marked something down in a white notebook. His offering would be remembered.

Voice strained, he said "I'd be somewhere you wouldn't want to be, and I'd be someone else completely. I didn't come here to be me."

Looking between the pillars leading out, he realised the sun was going down. It was time for him to go.

He started walking, then just before he was out of the temple, he said "Thank you", though whether it was to Belladona or the deity he had sought, he wasn't sure.

He walked on, and left the temple.
